The 411 on Being Involved this Easter!

We want to invite you to participate in our next intentional, non-stop week of prayer: Easter week, 2013. To join together with others of the faith and the Greensboro community to pray for each other, the church, our city, our nation, our world. We believe that there is unspeakable power in coming together as One Body in Christ to petition the Father.

During our 24-7 Greensboro Prayer events, we provide a creative, sacred space to which believers from all over the city, all different denominations, come to keeping prayer going for one week at a time, 24 hours a day. Our goals in this are to encourage personal encounter with God, spiritual growth, and unity in the Body of Christ.

Individuals or groups who wish to sign up for prayer slots in one-hour increments can do so on our calendar (you can find this at the bottom of our blog). We ask for people to commit to coming to the Lawndale prayer room to participate in the event. These prayer slots are exclusive to those who have signed up for them—we request that people arrive and leave on time to provide privacy for those praying in the time slots on other side of their own. There are open hours every evening from 6-10pm and anyone who wishes to may come pray--these times do not require signing up.

We offer three suggestions for participation as you consider how you might like to be involved in this event:

1. The deepest level of commitment would be to decide to fill one full day of prayer the week of the event (from 12am to 12am the next day) with congregants from your church body. If you’re interested, we ask that someone from your church community be your “champion” by being the point of connection with the 24-7 prayer team, handling all communication of the event with your church, and making sure all the hours are filled on the day you are taking.

2. Perhaps you would choose to simply communicate the opportunity of this event with your church body via announcements/bulletins/newsletters so that they are aware of it. We have a 24-7 graphic, bulletin insert, and are working on a video announcement, all which we will send to you so that you can easily promote the event in your church body.

3. If you do not feel comfortable or able to commit on a deeper level, we hope that someone from your church community—your prayer coordinator, associate or senior pastor, elder, deacon or other congregant—will consider coming to experience the event first-hand. Coming during open hours (6-10pm) is a great way to come see what 24-7 Greensboro is all about to determine if it is something your church might be interested in for future events.

Feel free to contact me at laura@fissel.com with any questions, concerns, or clarifications needed as you consider your level of involvement in our Easter 2013 prayer event. You can also find us on Facebook by searching for 24-7 Greensboro to see updates on the event.

Every year that I participate in this event, it serves to deeply remind me that God is faithfully among us. We hope that you will consider being an active part of this event. However you are able to be involved, our desire is that it will bless you and your congregation by offering an opportunity to grow and be encouraged in the area of prayer.

It is a joy to pray alongside you!
